Ask yourself if what you are doing feels like a diet (eliminating foods) or if you are making simple adjustment for a lifetime?
A healthy lifestyle never feels like you are eliminating foods. You are simply choosing to make some different choices. Keep it simple, one to two new concepts every few weeks. For example, I stopped putting butter/jelly on my toast for breakfast. It was so dry to eat I simple make an egg sandwich instead of the extra calories from jelly and butter. I didn’t make any other changes in my diet until the taste of the dry toast with eggs tasted delicious. Then I would work on a new item in my lifetyle that I felt wasn’t healthy.
